SB 301—Street Smarts

Fee: $520.00 (one instructor per customer)
Duration: 5—6 hours *
Location: Classroom, Closed Course, and Public Streets
Prerequisite: At least 1,000 miles on the motorcycle used in class
customers must provide their own motorcycle for this class
Required Gear

Street Smarts is a street riding course designed to enable the experienced motorcyclist to obtain supervised “real world” traffic experience on their own motorcycles. Discussion also includes changing weather, varying road/traffic conditions, intersection hazards, and interstate and mountain road riding. Depending on the customer’s skill level, the riding portion of this course may begin on a closed course with practice in cornering and stopping techniques. For the public street portion of the class, riders may choose between urban, suburban, and rural mountain riding. The mountain riding session begins on country lanes, and is designed to improve rider confidence by progressively introducing roads with a greater variety of curves and elevation changes.

Note: A safety inspection of the customer’s motorcycle will be performed prior to beginning the course. Proper tire condition, tire pressure, and suspension settings are critical aspects of this inspection. In addition, the motorcycle must not have any fluid leaks. It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure that the motorcycle is in good condition prior to arriving at the training site. The instructor reserves the right to cancel a course and reschedule any customer whose motorcycle does not pass inspection.

ST 501—Scenic Mountain Tours

While North Georgia, Eastern Tennessee, and Western North Carolina boast some of the best motorcycle roads in the country, many riders are unfamiliar with these roads. Atlanta Motorcycle Schools offers one-, two-, and three-day tours in this tri-state area that provide motorcyclists with the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful and lightly-trafficked Appalachian highways while practicing the skills and techniques of mountain road riding. Techniques covered during the tours include proper cornering lines, gear selection, line-of-sight, proper passing, and selecting speeds appropriate for traffic and weather conditions. Speed will be adjusted to allow for differences in motorcycles and riding styles but will not exceed speed limits.

Rider-to-instructor ratios will not exceed three-to-one. Motorcycles must be in excellent mechanical condition with good tires and reasonably quiet mufflers-no straight or open exhausts are permitted. A motorcycle operator license is required. Passengers are welcome for an additional fee.

Please visit our Tour page for detailed tour descriptions and prices.

ST 502—Adventure Motorcycle Tours

Let us guide you on a two-day scamper through northeast Georgia, western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee which will mix pavement and unpavement in a way that entwines well-maintained gravel roads with deliciously twisty back roads. While we might explore a scenic dead-end or two just for the fun of riding beside a trout stream, the objective will be to show riders new to this genre how to string together gravel roads which actually go somewhere.

Rider-to-instructor ratios will not exceed three-to-one. Motorcycles must be in excellent mechanical condition with good tires and suspension capable of riding on rutted, gravel roads. A motorcycle operator license is required. Passengers are welcome for an additional fee.

Please visit our Tour page for detailed tour descriptions and prices.
